Being Human: Stories from Humans of Minneapolis

"While walking back and forth to work in downtown Minneapolis, I used to see the same people every day, but we ignored each other. I didn’t like how that felt, so in 2010, I started asking people if I could take their photographs as an excuse to interact with them. That personal project eventually became the storytelling nonprofit Humans of Minneapolis. Listening to people from all walks of life tell their stories has expanded my perspective and changed how I find my way through the world.

For Being Human, I wanted to uncover themes we can all appreciate: the desire for acceptance, the search for belonging, the struggle to find calm in a chaotic world, and the hope for a better future. I believe wholeheartedly that the things we share in common are more powerful than the things that divide us.

My goal is that this work will encourage others to notice the people all around them and try to connect, even if only for a moment."

Stephanie Glaros, 2019

Being Human: Stories from Humans of Minneapolis is a curated collection of memorable stories from the project.

The exhibit is on the second floor and visiting the museum at this time does require the use of stairs.

Admission: $8; $5 Seniors and Students; free for HHM Members
